ACT Police allege Buddy had engaged in crimes including aiding and abetting arson, defacing public property, aiding and abetting the damage of property, assaulting a frontline service worker and resisting a territory public official .The Australian Federal Police and the ACT Police established joint taskforce Operation Pike and had been investigating the leaders and actions of individuals squatting in the Muckadda Camp. Shillingsworth has pleaded not guilty.

Shillingsworth appeared in court on January 14 2022 and was granted bail after agreeing not to enter the suburb of Parkes, ACT and check-in at Sydney’s Redfern police station three times a week. He was also prohibited from being in contact with Dylan Didge Wilson.
